Thierry Forbois
Unclassifiable creator, Thierry Forbois fascinates by the originality of his vibrant and sacred universe. Self-taught, he cultivates a field of passions in which art, science, philosophy, literature, music and wine intermingle... His creative impetus lead him towards the artisanal object and the living space, working to go beyond their functional dimension through an aesthetic research whose triple ambition is the poetization, resacralization and reenchantment of the everyday.
Following an experience of unity lived in 2003 as a radical shift in consciousness, he embarked on a mystical journey aiming to reunite the conditions that foster the state of awe, a quest that, after more than a decade, ended with the creation of the Way of Wine.
“Thinking of Sen no Rykiu, who in 16th century Japan established the essence of a Way of tea as it is still practiced today, I find myself dreaming of our distant future… I see those who will come long after us, holding on to the hope that somewhere on Earth, some of our people, still human in flesh and spirit, will gather around a bottle of wine. And as they drink, surrendering themselves to beauty and the rapture of the senses, they’ll rekindle the sacred bond that unites them to the Universe, to the Source of all life and to the Mystery of all things. Then, filled with grace and wonder, they’ll know a joy without words, then again, they’ll be children, then, again, they’ll be gods. That is the Way of Wine.”
