‘‘Drinking wine is the purpose of our celebration. Drinking wine, again, for the first time. Drinking wine is the blessing I wish us…’’

The Wine Master

What Is

The Way of Wine is a live art performed by Thierry Forbois during which the service of a great wine becomes the object of an extraordinary ritual for an intimate group of guests.

Transfiguring the tasting experience, this wine celebration consists of a prelude and unfolds in 3 acts comprising 9 movements, immersing guests into a numinous realm, that of symbolic language, aesthetic contemplation, gustatory ecstasy, and awe…

To me, wine is a sacred substance and drinking wine is an experience of the sacred.

My fascination with wine is of a nature that will always remain more enigmatic and compelling than it may appear to other wine lovers. Wine awakens in me a sense of spiritual presence. Oh, there's an entity within this fluid..., a living universe, a life story of its own. Drinking wine is not a gustatory experience, it's an "encounter", literally, a communion with that living substance that unfolds in the rapture of my body and mind, reminding my soul of its embodied dimension and my form of its spiritual essence. I know that in wine, even in a single sip, there's the possibility of an inner transformation, something powerful, existential.

The art of the Way of Wine may seem spectacular, but it's not a show. It's a sacred journey through the delights and mysteries of wine. A journey to the heart of our humanity, to rediscover ourselves, and rekindle the fire within.

For Whom

The Way of Wine is an experience unlike anything known, and exploring this web space will let you get a feel for it, knowing that its essence will remain a mystery. For no words, no images, no powers of the imagination can replace the richness and depth of the lived experience. As true as the magic bliss of a great Sauternes or a nectar of the Côte de Nuits remains forever incomprehensible for those who have not yet savored them in their body…

So, is this trip for you?

For Thierry Forbois, the answer to this question lies less in the nature of the experiences that call to you than in your thirst to live, to truly, absolutely live.
